Community-Based Services

NFI North has been a pioneer when it comes to consumer driven practice. For decades we have developed a service array that empowers those disenfranchised youth and adults challenged with disabilities, mental illness, complex trauma and social injustice.  Since the 1970s when sweeping reforms allowed privatized services to de-institutionalize youth in the juvenile justice system and adults then warehoused in large scale psychiatric hospitals. Then known as Northeastern Family Institute (NFI), we became one of the original providers to develop community-based alternatives that created effective services based on methods of engagement, peer support, empowerment, skill building, and accountability.

NFI North’s Community-Based Services are delivered in the community, generally in the family home, and include service models such as:

  • Diagnostic Assessment
  • Outreach
  • Family Stabilization
  • Case Management
  • Care Management
  • Wraparound
  • Respite Care
  • Parent Education
  • Support Services
  • Evidence Based Models (such as TF-CBT, DBT, Supported Employment and many others )
